How to Fry the Perfect Chip-and it’sHealthy too!

How do you like your chips? Thin and crispy, big fat and soft, or medium size crispy on the outside but soft on the inside. How about round chips thin but crunchy?
Well whatever your choice you can have those perfect chips and healthy ones too. Because the electric air fryer is here and it doesn’t use fat to make those delicious chips but instead uses superheated air at around 2000C. (Although to be honest you will probably need a small quantity of oil)
Yes the air fryer uses hot air to cook those traditional meals that would usually be put in a deep fat fryer. And some air fryers claim that food like chicken, fish, chips and pastries will brown off with about 80% less fat.
What does an electric air fryer look like?  Well - see picture below. In fact it’s about the size of a fairly large rice cooker.

The Air Fryer also usually has a reasonable size tray that is easily removed, filled with food and reinserted.

What about Cooking Times

Obviously various models may have slightly different cooking times but roughly speaking these will be around the norm: so coming back to those lovely chips---

Handmade chips will possibly need a half spoon of oil and will take about 10-15 minutes to cook.

Or if you prefer French fries –well it is less time, around 9-10 minutes and these will be nice and crispy.

Of course not everyone likes chips (really!!)-so what about hamburgers, chicken, scampi (even frozen) well they will all take about the same time as those mentioned above.

Talking about all this food is making me hungry, but seriously the electric air fryer will not only produce food that is hot, brown and crispy but it cuts the calories as well.
We all know that when food is roasted, fried, baked or toasted there is a browning or crisping process that takes place-this is what is called the Mailand effect - no don’t ask me to explain it, but is you really really want to know please click here.

To achieve this same effect the Electric Air Fryer uses a grill and a fan and blasts very hot air around your food at high speeds.

The Air Fryer could have an effect on the nation’s health as chips (yes we are back to them again!) are so popular that nearly a quarter of million kilos of hidden fat are consumed every year by cooking with others methods.
Another benefit is that the air fryer has a much better safety factor. In the UK, for instance, chip pan fires are the most common cause of house fires (almost 12,000 every year) that resulted in over 4600 injuries and sadly 50 deaths a year.
After all these benefits I suppose the question is does the electric air fryer make my food taste better?  Well unfortunately I don’t know the answer to that one-perhaps the only answer is buy one and see!

We have included below a video which explains in detail exactly what an air fryer is-we hope you will find it interesting.
